Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1) What's going on in Medjugorje?

Mary has allegedly been appearing to 6 people since 1981.  The church is still investigating Medjugorje, although it has given its approval of similar Marian apparitions (e.g. Fatima and Lourdes).  The church is unlikely to fully approve Medjugorje until it is complete (as in past cases) -- by then it will be too late to visit while Mary is still appearing. Pope Francis has, however, assigned a special envoy from the Vatican to provide "pastoral care" to the pilgrims visiting Medjugorje (May 31, 2018).  And St. Pope John Paul II said: "Medjugorje is the spiritual center of the world," suggesting it is a very spiritual place to strengthen the faith of all who visit.

See the links page for more information.

2) Where is Medjugorje?

Medjugorje is a small village located in the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina (formerly Yugoslavia).  Split, Croatia has one of the nearest airports (SPU).  SPU is about a 1 hour flight from Rome.  Medjugorje is a 2 hour drive from SPU by car.  The map below shows Medjugorje (click on the satellite icon and zoom in, can you find St. James Church?).  You can zoom out to see where it is relative to other places.

3) How much does it cost to visit?

This site shows you how to book things on your own (and optionally travel w/ Ken and David) to travel for as little as $1500 for a week per person. A guided tour with other organizations can cost $2,000 to $4,000 to visit for a week. See the Budget page.
